Finally Started!
No pictures yet, but I have cast on for my first stocking! I am using Lion Brand Jiffy in Grass Green as my MC and Pearl Gray for the CC. So far, I have about half the leg part done.
I am combining bits and pieces of patterns I like as I go, so who knows how they will turn out. You would think that my problems with my last project (Mossy Socks) would have taught me better than to do that, but I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. Somehow I just can't follow a pattern and make something, I have to modify it all and that's what gets me into trouble (i.e. frogging and redesigning).
Oh well, back to work!

I think I'd rather be a knitter who can't follow a pattern because I keep thinking, "but what if I did it THIS way?" than be one of those knitters who can ONLY follow a pattern. Seriously? I've meet people who can't even think enough outside the box to change the COLOR (never mind the yarn) a pattern calls for. This one lady said, "*sigh* If only it weren't pink, this would be the perfect sweater." I suggested she buy the same yarn in another color and she was horrified. "I don't know," she said, "What if there's some difference in the dye process and it doesn't come out right?" *eyeroll*
Thanks! I think my problem is that I need to be confident that my plans will work out, rather than be afraid of overconfidence, which equals starting over for me when I knit.
More knitting time means experience to draw from and confidence to explore new and challenging projects, and perhaps to start designing something fabulous for myself!
